SLOBBERING CATFISH (TABLA BARBA) / GOSLINEA PLATYNEMA

A large, distinctive predatory catfish found throughout much of the middle Amazon, the Slobbering Catfish is also sometimes known as Tabla Barba, a local name for the fish in its native Peru where it is an important food fish. Growing as large as 36″ or more in the wild, this fish is not as active as some of its open-water swimming relatives but still requires an enormous aquarium as an adult.
